Aussie Wine Guy's Best Wines

Here is a list of the best wines we’ve tasted over the years.  This is by no means a comprehensive list (in short, we forgot to record some of the big wines we’ve tested over the years), but does provide some historical value.

Apologies for the accuracy of the information – a lot of this has been compiled from memory only.

  • Penfolds - Grange Hermitage - 1976

Renown wine reviewer Robert Parker gave the '76 100 points in his book "The World's Greatest Wine Estates". Hard to argue, and since I tasted it before reading Mr. Parker's book, I'd have to say I strongly agree.
  • Henschke - "Hill of Grace" - 1998

Touted as one of the best vintages on record, the '98 didn't disappoint. Unlike the '99 vintage (which I also had the luxury of tasting side-by-side with the '98), the '98 is full bodied, complex and savoury. If well matured (give it at least ten years, folks!) I can only imagine how much deeper and complex it would be...
